Sharon is a contemporary painter based in Victoria, Canada. Her subjects include floral/botanical themes, as well as landscapes and seascapes inspired by the natural beauty of her environment.
She received her education in Fine Art from UBC Okanagan and the University of Victoria and worked for many years as a commercial artist, designer and illustrator. Her art has appeared on retail textiles, ceramics, greeting cards, magazines and books, but since 2020 she has focused her efforts on her first love – painting.
With lyrical brushstrokes and an eye for colour, she aims not to describe an exact likeness of her subject matter, but to evoke emotions and memory through intuitive colour, form, texture and line.
Her work can be viewed at her studio by appointment or at Gage Gallery, 19 Bastion Square, Victoria, BC.
When not making artwork, you can find Sharon dog walking, weed wrangling in her garden, reading a good book or cloud gazing at the beach.
