Barb spent her early childhood living on coastal light stations on Vancouver Island. Being on or around the ocean is still where she feels most inspired, in her art and in her life. Even though Barb has always been artistic in some form or another, she began her art journey painting with watercolour after a long career in nursing.

More recently she has begun to explore the wonder of mixed media abstract, using acrylic paint and collage elements—Barb: “this has been the most fun I’ve had making art!”.  Barb held her first solo exhibition of her new work in January/February 2022 at the Art Centre at Cedar Hill, Victoria, BC. She has shown her work in many art shows and local venues including the Federation of Canadian Artists Gallery, Metchosin ArtPod, Esquimalt Gallery, as well as the Sooke Fine Arts Show 2021 & 2022.

Barb is an active member of ECAH (Esquimalt Community Arts Hub), Metchosin ArtPod, Arts & Culture Colwood Society, SFAS and SPAC. Barb continues to promote her artwork at local venues and is currently working toward the “Featured Artist of the Month” at the First Unitarian Church of Victoria as well as a group show at ArtSea Gallery in 2023.
